San Diego Golf Lessons at Miramar Memorial Golf Course
IMG_1143.jpg

Hi! I’m Heather.

"As a Golf Coach, I want my students to understand that golf is something to learn for the rest of your life. After playing golf for more than 25 years, I am still learning about myself and challenging myself every time I step onto the golf course, meeting new people, staying athletic and seeing new places.

Golf can open many doors, whether it is trying to raise money for charities, or play on a team. It can provide a social aspect to your life by joining a women’s or men’s club. Once joining, you can challenge yourself and play against others in tournaments, while still being with your friends and meeting new people. Every time you come to play a round of golf, you are staying active and burning calories.

Learning to play golf teaches you many of life’s great lessons. I always tell my students that no one wakes up and is suddenly good at golf. Just like learning to read and write in school, we have to do our homework and do our part in the class room. But instead with golf, you learn from one golf lesson at a time and then practice those specific things your golf coach has taught. For example, most beginners need to learn the grip, ball position, stance and posture before you can swing the club. Once you learn the proper positions, then you must practice them on your own at home or preferably the driving range. At first gripping the club and getting into your stance will be very uncomfortable, but the more you practice, the more muscle memory you develop. After you gain some muscle memory, grip stance and posture becomes second nature. Like when you get into the car, you know to buckle up, turn on the ignition, foot on the brake, check mirrors and change gears. Once this becomes a habit or comfortable like driving a car, then you can start to learn something else! You cannot learn the whole golf swing in one lesson but you can learn one or two things at a time and then move on from there.

When you start to see an improvement, or a return on your investment, it is extremely rewarding and addicting. You will be hooked for life.

About Heather King Golf

Hello, my name is Heather King, and I am Golf Professional born and raised in San Diego, ca. Golf has been in my life from early on; I started to play when I was 8 years old with my older brother Kyle. I played golf at hilltop High school in Chula Vista, ca and went on to play at San Diego State University on a golf scholarship. After graduating from SDSU in 2010, I started the process to become a PGA Member while working at Coronado Municipal golf course under head pro Ron Yarbrough. in 2015, I was elected to class a membership while still working at Coronado.

after what seemed at the time devastating but in the end being one of my best decisions, I left Coronado in 2017 and moved to Carmel Mountain Ranch CC. After closing in 2018, I moved to Encinitas ranch golf course for one year and then decided to became a full time coach at Premier Golf Academy. Learning i wanted to run my own teaching program at a course in 2019 was when I made the move to Miramar memorial golf course in San Diego, Ca and have been there since. After leaving my loved students from South Bay and moving to north county was devastating, but would be one of my great decisions because I have grown and gained many new experiences, knowledge, mentors and friends along the way which have shaped me to the coach i am now.
