Help Choosing Clubs for Beginning Junior Golfers

This article will help you decide what kind of golf clubs is the best option for your beginning junior golfers. If we are talking about the first set for your child 13-14 and under, then I highly recommend for the first set to be US Kids Ultralight. Yes it’s more expensive but you will get almost three year use out of them if you purchase a recommended size from US Kids Fitter (like myself) or PGA Professional (myself like also). The light weight is what makes us kids clubs better than the clubs you can find for like $25 on online resale sites. Great price? Absolutely but they are so heavy, most kids under 10 years old or under can barely lift them.

The reason you want light weight clubs at first is because they can create club speed and easier carve out their swing faster than heavier clubs. If it’s too heavy for their first set, then the swing muscles take much longer to build strength from all new muscles being used and as result will take much longer to gain any swing speed. Which also results in kids not having as much fun because the equipment is restricting. This is strictly speaking on the weight of the clubs, assuming they are the right size.

If clubs are wrong size, then that would be comparable to playing basketball in shoes size 10 when you are size 6. Short irons should stand just at or preferably below the hip.

Sorry for such long explanation just want to make sure you understand and know I’m not trying to up sale you. If you ask me for my opinion I can only give you my true opinion from experience. Have not seen another set comparable to USKids based off weight and quality.

So if she is 43 inches, then you can do 45 or I would recommend doing the next size up which is 48 inches US Kids Ultra light. You can order online or I can order through our pro shop. The 48 in set is teal or pink? With bag. Or head into any pro shop and the pro in the shop should be able to measure anyone for clubs.
